The ITI Senior Vice President, External Affairs, is the chief storyteller and keeper of the brand, overseeing media, communications, and partnerships for ITI. The SVP will provide high level strategic guidance to strengthen the organization’s global media messaging and brand, and will enhance ITI’s role as a communications resource for the sector. The SVP is an officer with fiduciary responsibilities for ITI and reports to the President and CEO.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Serve as an ITI officer with fiduciary responsibilities to the company and be invested in the organization’s success
  • Regularly interact with ITI’s Board Members and Executive Committee and participate actively in ITI member company recruiting activities.
  • Oversee and administer the External Affairs budget.
  • Serve as a strategic counselor, shaping ITI’s course through insight and advice on key decisions.
  • Be the organization’s chief storyteller.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive messaging, brand and outreach strategy for entire organization.
  • Manage communications on critical and emerging policy and political issues, through media relations, public positioning, and executive communications.
  • Develop and execute crisp, culturally informed, compelling, and persuasive narratives by leveraging the latest technology and media.
  • Establish communications policies, protocols and procedures that prioritizes member engagement, and promotes work with cross-functional department leaders to develop new communications programs and initiatives.

  • Build, lead and develop the Communications team, guiding them to new levels of achievement and collaboration.
  • Other duties as assigned by the President and CEO.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Good judgement and EQ
  • Strong verbal, visual and written communications skills
  • Political savvy and strategy. Able to see around corners with a capacity to understand unintended consequences and various implications
  • Adaptive, flexible, can prioritize and hit moving targets.
  • Track record of working well as a member of a team
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Campaign and private sector experience is also highly valued

  • Thoughtful, execution-minded with willingness to offer actionable opinions and judgements.
  • Excellent listener who absorbs and respects the opinions of others is decisive and able to influence.
  • Effective at creative consensus around strategic initiatives utilizing a collaborative, inclusive and engaging decision-making process.
  • Articulate and thoughtful-able to adapt communication on complex issues for different audiences.
