Duncan Neasham serves as ITI's director of communications, bringing more than 14 years of experience with a background in communications, media strategy, public outreach, and federal and legislative affairs. Before joining ITI, Duncan led communications for Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren, who represents part of Silicon Valley, and is a respected leader on immigration, technology and innovation policy, and civil liberties. As communications director to Congresswoman Lofgren, he advised on press strategy and oversaw national media engagement on immigration reform and innovation issues, coordinated communications efforts for the 38-member California Democratic Congressional Delegation, and directed online and social media outreach.
Before joining Congresswoman Lofgren's office, he served as the press secretary for House Small Business Committee Chairwoman Nydia Velázquez, during a time when the Committee worked to craft policies to help rebuild the U.S. economy after the financial collapse of 2008.
Prior to his time as a senior aide in the U.S. House, Duncan—an avid boater who grew up along the east and west coasts as the son of a naval officer—led government affairs media and industry outreach for the $39 billion U.S. recreational boating industry. This followed an assignment with the U.S. State Department under Secretary Colin Powell as a contract officer promoting public diplomacy and engagement abroad in Europe, Russia, South America and the Caribbean.
Previously, after working as an aide on the staff of Senator Ron Wyden, Duncan was engaged on political campaigns for statewide offices and a presidential primary. He began his career through an internship at the White House during the Clinton-Gore Administration. A proud Hokie, he majored in political science at Virginia Tech.
