ITI PRAISES NEW SENATE REPUBLICAN HIGH TECH TASK FORCE POLICY AGENDA
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Information
Technology Industry Council (ITI) today welcomed the Senate Republican High
Tech Task Force’s new policy agenda for the 110th Congress.
“ITI supports the Senate Republican High Tech Task Force’s agenda
to help America’s technology industry grow by eliminating barriers
to innovation and trade,” said Kara Calvert, ITI’s Director of
Government Relations. “We thank Senator Smith for his leadership
on tech issues and look forward to working with members of the Task Force
to enact several important priorities this year.”
ITI cited several priorities it shares with the Senate Republicans:
- Immigration Reform. Reform the current immigration
system for temporary and permanent highly skilled workers and students,
particularly in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)
fields.
- Patent Reform. Promote patent reforms that
ensure patents continue to provide stong incentives for innovation and
economic growth
- Trade. Ensure that new trade agreements require
foreign governments to adequately protect U.S. intellectual property rights,
provide transparency in the regulatory process, protect companies from
unfair trade practices and take effective enforcement action against piracy.
- Taxes. Make permanent the Internet Tax Moratorium
and promote a permanent R&D tax credit.
