ITI SIGNS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE GREEN GRID

Agreement with Industry-Leading Consortium to Focus on Energy Efficiency for Data Centers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Information Technology Council (ITI) announced today that it has entered into an MOU with The Green Grid, a global consortium of companies dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and computing ecosystems.

The agreement between ITI and The Green Grid will help align the two organizations’ positions and affirm the respective and distinct role each organization is playing to help the IT industry address the demand for energy efficiency. The Green Grid is a tech industry leader in providing industry-wide recommendations on best practices, metrics and technologies that will improve overall data center energy efficiencies.

"ITI regards this agreement with The Green Grid as a positive step forward for the entire high tech industry,” said Rhett Dawson, President of the Information Technology Industry Council. "With access to the expertise provided by The Green Grid that ITI will gain from this relationship and the potential synergies with ITI’s new Environmental Coalition, we believe we will be able to be an even more effective advocate on environmental and sustainability issues. This announcement further demonstrates ITI’s commitment to industry leadership on environmental issues at the state, federal and international level.”

Dawson added, "This MOU agreement with The Green Grid and the recent launch of ITI’s Environmental Coalition represent exciting opportunities for ITI to shape policy issues and drive standards in the environmental and energy efficiency arena. Working with The Green Grid will leverage ITI’s reach and expertise in government relations, international trade and existing energy and environment capabilities. ITI member companies are global leaders in energy conservation and efficiency through innovation, and I consider this to be an ideal strategic fit for both organizations.”

"Partnering with important industry representatives like The Information Technology Industry Council supports and amplifies the mission of The Green Grid,” said Larry Vertal, director of The Green Grid. "By keeping us informed of important public policy initiatives that stand to impact the IT industry, this relationship will help better position The Green Grid to provide sound technical recommendations and solutions.”
