High Tech Group Encouraged by House Committee Hearing on Electronics
WASHINGTON, DC – The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) today praised House lawmakers for examining issues related to the design and appropriate recycling of electronics. ITI President Rhett Dawson said that all electronics manufacturers favor sound and consistent policies that encourage innovation in green design and help ensure that used electronics are managed in an environmentally responsible manner.
"We're in support of further research into the environmentally-preferable design and management of electronics," Dawson said. "Our member companies are global leaders in environmental innovation, and we welcome the opportunity to work cooperatively with the federal government and other stakeholders on joint research priorities. We appreciate the House Science and Technology Committee¹s interest in this area, and we look forward to working with Committee lawmakers in this effort."
Today's hearing was held by the House Science and Technology Committee and included testimony from ITI members Hewlett Packard and Sony Electronics.
