ITI has an unparallel reputation for turning thought leadership into tangible action for its members. ITI members can participate in over 15 ITI committees that represent the industry and its priorities in domestic and global venues.
ITI has served the high tech industry longer than any other trade association, beginning in 1916 when it was founded in Chicago, Illinois as the National Association of Office Appliance Manufacturers.
ITI's members are global leaders in innovation--from all areas of the ICT sector including hardware, services, and software--the products our members create are the face of global economic growth and the heart and soul of improving peoples' lives.
The Environmental Leadership Council (ELC) at ITI represents almost 70 of the principal manufacturers of information technology equipment, wireless and consumer electronics devices, and other electronic and high-tech products and systems. Our member companies have long been leaders in innovation and sustainability: many exceed the requirements on environmental design and energy efficiency, and lead the way in product stewardship efforts. In fact, every year our products become more energy efficient, use fewer materials of potential environmental concern, and become easier to upgrade, disassemble and recycle. This process of continuous evolution, driven by market demand and competition, can be readily observed by comparing today's products to similar products that were manufactured just a few years ago.
This record of leadership has prompted prestigious indices, including the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, the Financial Times Sustainability Index, and the Global 100, to consistently recognize numerous ITI members for their concrete environmental and sustainability achievements.
