The information communications technology (ICT) industry recognizes the social and environmental conditions that are often associated with metals that are mined in conflict areas, and as an industry we are committed to doing our part to bring transparency and responsible practices to the global supply chains that provide raw materials to the industry.

Developing Solutions

The high-tech industry is already working through the Electronics Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) and the Global eSustainability Initiative (GeSI) to improve transparency across supply chains for tin, tantalum and colbalt - three of the metals most commonly associated with this issue.  While the high-tech industry is only one of many major industries that rely on these metals, we are leading the way in trying to craft a solution.
