Even in these uncertain times one thing is certain: Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is the face of global economic growth and the heart and soul of improving peoples' lives. From state of the art health care in the United States; high-speed, climate friendly trains in Singapore; smarter streets in the Netherlands; and improved information and communication networks in Africa, ICT is and should be at the center of it all.

We are ardent and unabashed advocates for the power of technology. That is because we know that ICT innovation will continue to be the principal catalyst that propels us into a virtuous cycle beginning with smart industries begetting new high wage jobs. That then turns into more savings and ultimately renewed spending and economic growth. Our recognition of this virtuous cycle leads us to advocate accounting for ICT in public policy, corporate strategy, and in both public and private investments.

We are at a disruptive moment in history where today's decisions will be instrumental in shaping the long-term future. By harnessing the true power of ICT and the ICT sector we can revitalize global economies, create much needed jobs, and sustain our planet. In short, ICT helps us to do the things we need to do better and smarter. At this moment in time, that is exactly what we need.
