ITI has an unparallel reputation for turning thought leadership into tangible action for its members. ITI members can participate in over 15 ITI committees that represent the industry and its priorities in domestic and global venues.
ITI has served the high tech industry longer than any other trade association, beginning in 1916 when it was founded in Chicago, Illinois as the National Association of Office Appliance Manufacturers.
ITI's members are global leaders in innovation--from all areas of the ICT sector including hardware, services, and software--the products our members create are the face of global economic growth and the heart and soul of improving peoples' lives.
ITI’s Global Policy division leads industry efforts to ensure and expand market access for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry. By drawing on the resources of international networks of in-country member company representatives, trade associations domestically and abroad, and by engaging directly with US and foreign government officials, ITI’s Global Policy division engages lawmakers and leaders worldwide.
ITI works closely with the U.S. Trade Representative, Department of Commerce, Department of State, and U.S. embassies abroad to address industry issues globally. Similarly, strong relationships with in-country member company representatives and local industry associations help ITI garner support for ICT-friendly international trade policy priorities and achieve desired outcomes.
In addition to focusing on traditional trade-related issues including bilateral, regional and multilateral negotiations and enforcement of agreements, Global Policy addresses technical standards and regulations and other non-tariff barriers that inhibit market growth and trade. These specific areas of engagement effectively impact a wide range of issues focused on increasing access to global markets, and enhancing the global competitiveness of ITI’s member companies.
