ITI has an unparallel reputation for turning thought leadership into tangible action for its members. ITI members can participate in over 15 ITI committees that represent the industry and its priorities in domestic and global venues.
ITI has served the high tech industry longer than any other trade association, beginning in 1916 when it was founded in Chicago, Illinois as the National Association of Office Appliance Manufacturers.
ITI's members are global leaders in innovation--from all areas of the ICT sector including hardware, services, and software--the products our members create are the face of global economic growth and the heart and soul of improving peoples' lives.
ITI's key to successful policy advocacy in Washington D.C. is that it supports and helps to develop high-tech policies that improve peoples' lives, and its member companies' abilities to operate and innovate. ITI facilitates policy development in part by maintaining strong working relationships with Members of Congress and the Administration. ITI is known for its ability to create opportunities for our member companies to interact with policymakers and thought leaders, and regularly holds meetings with key individuals at ITI, on Capitol Hill, and at key Administration offices.
ITI outlines policy priorities for the tech industry annually. Please visit our 2010 ITI Policy Priorities page to see where the tech sector plans to be most engaged in 2010. In addition, ITI consistently leads policy development in the following areas:
ITI High Tech Vote Guide
ITI also develops a widely utilized Congressional Scorecard - the ITI High Tech Vote Guide. The guide serves as a unique reference tool, and is the only technology evaluation cited in the Almanac of American Politics. The guide not only reflects legislators' varying levels of commitment to tech-friendly policy, but also how successful the tech industry has been in spreading awareness of technology as a driving force behind American economic growth, innovation, and job creation.
ITI updates the scorecard every two years, to coincide with the final vote of a session of Congress. Complete access to ITI scorecards is available below.
