The U.S. trade bodies demand to know that if the preferential market access (PMA) provided to domestic telecom ‘kit manufacturers’ will only be applicable to government contracts or will also include private procurements, reports Gulveen Aulakh & Kalyan Parbat, ET Bureau.


Three of the powerful U.S. trade bodies, the US-India Business Council, Information Technology Industry Council and Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) want clarification from the Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeiTY), if the PMA policy is not applicable to the private sector.
