Washington, D.C. (December 14, 2011) – Nilmini Rubin, Director of Government Relations at the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), today released the following statement regarding House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Dan Lungren’s bill entitled the “Promoting and Enhancing Cybersecurity and Information Sharing Effectiveness Act of 2011”:

“The legislation being introduced by Chairman Dan Lungren is a positive step toward greater cybersecurity. We appreciate that Chairman Lungren’s bill encourages collaboration between the U.S. government and the private sector to improve the security of cyberspace.  Since the private sector largely owns and operates the Internet, a public-private partnership is essential.”

“We look forward to continuing to work with Chairman Lungren to improve existing information structures rather than create a new information sharing organization. This is an issue that can be resolved as the bill progresses in Congress.”
