WASHINGTON – The IT Alliance for Public Sector (ITAPS) today announced that VMware* has joined as a participant of its public sector division of the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI). VMware is a leader in virtualization and policy-driven automation – from the data center to the cloud to mobile devices, helping customers realize the dramatic benefits of a software-defined model for Information Technology (IT).
“VMware is a respected pioneer in transforming the way customers build, deliver and consume IT resources, and we are excited they have decided to join ITAPS,” said Trey Hodgkins, ITAPS senior vice president for the public sector. “ITAPS is committed to advancing policies that will help the government make better use of new technology offerings like the cloud to improve efficiency, quality of service and savings for the taxpayer.”
“Through VMware’s leadership in the software-defined data center, the hybrid cloud, and end-user computing, businesses and governments can be more agile and responsive, while lowering costs,” said Michael Kennedy, vice president, Global Government Relations and Public Policy, VMware. “We look forward to continuing to work with ITAPS to support the public sector.”
ITI formed ITAPS in November 2013 to develop an alliance of leading technology companies building and integrating the latest innovative technologies for the public sector market. Six months later, in April 2014, ITAPS announced its first 14 participating companies. Today’s announcement makes VMware the 24th company to join the ITAPS alliance.
With a focus on the federal, state, and local levels of government—as well as on educational institutions—ITAPS advocates for improved procurement policies and practices, while identifying business development opportunities and sharing market intelligence with our industry participants.
