WASHINGTON – The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), the global voice for the tech sector representing 60 of the world’s leading technology companies, issued the following statement from President and CEO Dean Garfield today on the announcement that Senior Vice President for Global Policy John Neuffer will depart ITI to become the next President and CEO of the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA):

"John has been a tremendous asset to me as a close advisor, strategic counselor and valued colleague at ITI in growing our robust advocacy efforts for the tech sector around the world.  The Semiconductor Industry Association, in naming him as their next President and CEO, will benefit from the leadership, talent and dedication he will bring to the organization.

ITI has grown into a respected global advocate for the tech sector under John’s tenure. Though it will be hard to fill his shoes, we will conduct a thorough search to continue to promote and grow our international efforts on behalf of the tech sector.  We congratulate John and look forward to continuing to work together with him at SIA to expand the innovation economy.”

Neuffer has served at ITI for seven years and brought more than two decades of global policy and trade experience to ITI’s global operations, including previous service in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative as a Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, and as a Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Japan.

Neuffer will be at ITI through the end of this year.  He will begin at the Semiconductor Industry Association in January 2015.
