Washington, D.C. (March 10, 2012) –The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) today congratulated President Obama on his selection of Todd Park to be the new Federal Chief Technology Officer.  ITI president and CEO Dean Garfield issued the following statement:

"President Obama has made an outstanding selection in Todd Park as the new U.S. Chief Technology Officer (CTO).  This is a boon for innovation in America.  Todd will bring cutting-edge approaches to the government, finding tech-based solutions to the major challenges facing the country.  He understands that technology can improve government services, cut bureaucratic frustrations, and reduce costs for the American taxpayers.

"Todd has big shoes to fill.  As the first-ever Federal CTO, Aneesh Chopra was a tech trailblazer for the federal sector, bringing innovative improvements to just about every corner of the government.  I'm confident that not only will Todd continue that work, but he also will lead the effort to make technology a first option in policy execution instead of a last-minute solution to crises and chronic bureaucratic obstacles.  We look forward to working with Todd and his team."
