The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) today announced former Department of Justice spokeswoman Adora Andy Jenkins as its lead on communications and external affairs.

 “We are pleased to welcome Adora as our Vice President for External Affairs,” said Dean Garfield, President and CEO of ITI. “Adora’s vast experience and work on behalf of our country’s top government officials will be a tremendous asset to the tech sector. We are delighted to have her on our senior leadership team,” Garfield stated.

I am excited to join ITI’s dedicated team.  I look forward to communicating with policy makers, the press and the public about the important and game-changing work of ITI and its members,” said Adora Andy Jenkins.

Jenkins is a highly respected professional with more than 10 years of experience in communications and public outreach. Since August 2011, Jenkins was the Press Secretary to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder. As the national spokesperson and media advisor to the Attorney General and the U.S. Department of Justice, she worked on a range of high-profile issues, including financial fraud, and civil rights. 

Prior to joining the U.S. Department of Justice, Jenkins was a member of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lisa P. Jackson’s leadership team, where she was responsible for the agency’s external and internal messaging, including national announcements, website content, social and new media platforms, and agency-wide initiatives. Previously, she served as EPA’s Press Secretary, the primary spokesperson for the agency on all issues, including the BP oil spill and the Japanese nuclear crisis.

In 2008, Jenkins worked on the Obama Presidential Campaign as Regional Press Secretary in Florida during the general election, and as a spokesperson in six states during the primary campaign. Prior to that, she served as the spokesperson for the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office in metro-Atlanta. In 2005, she was the Press Secretary for Congressman Harold Ford Jr.'s U.S. Senate race in Tennessee.

Jenkins started her career in London in 2003, where she worked as a TV news producer at two network affiliate stations, and wrote international and financial news stories for CNBC Europe.

Jenkins earned her Bachelor of Journalism from the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri in Columbia.

She will begin at ITI on Monday, December 16, 2013.
