WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Dean Garfield, ITI President and CEO, issued this statement after the Senate Majority Leader filed cloture tonight to bring debate to a close on S. 3414, the Cybersecurity Act of 2012:

"We are concerned to see the Senate at an apparent stalemate on cybersecurity legislation.  This has been a process that has taken several years, and, during this time, we have seen tremendous bipartisan collaboration that led to passage of several important bills in the House of Representatives.  We also have worked with numerous Senators, Republican and Democratic, for many months, including the last several days, and significant progress has been made.  We urge Senators to continue to engage with stakeholders in a search for solutions, and work toward a collaborative, innovative cybersecurity structure that will safeguard public safety, national security, and economic stability."
