Washington, D.C. (March 20, 2012) – U.S. Senator Scott Brown, R-Mass., has been named Legislator of the Year by the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI).

“Senator Brown understands that technology and innovation are at the heart of America’s economic future.  His legislative work underscore his commitment to equipping our country’s best and brightest with the tools to succeed,” Dean Garfield, ITI president and CEO, said.  “Senator Brown is a leading voice for cutting-edge innovation in Massachusetts and across the country.”

ITI presented Brown with the award at its board meeting this week in Washington, D.C.  ITI is the premier voice, advocate, and thought leader for the information and communications technology industry.  The organization is widely recognized as the tech industry's most effective advocacy organization in Washington, D.C., and in foreign capitals around the world.

“Through his efforts to advance research and development investments and to bolster science, technology, engineering, and math classes in our schools, Senator Brown understands that we need first-class minds, first-class facilities, and a first-class commitment to an innovation economy to compete with the rest of the world,” Garfield said.

“I’m honored to receive the Legislator of the Year award from ITI. Massachusetts is home to many ITI member companies, and I have fought on their behalf to ensure that new workers can be hired and the industry can grow,” said Senator Brown. “Today, there is too much uncertainty for employers.  I will continue to fight for pro-growth policies to put Americans back to work.”
