WASHINGTON – The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), the global voice for the technology sector's leading companies, issued the following statement from President and CEO Dean Garfield on the first day for filing H-1B visa applications for foreign born high-skilled employees to work in the United States:

“Contrary to some lawmakers who dispute the need for high-skilled workers, this will be the fifth year over the past decade that the H-1B cap will be reached within the first week of the April 1 filing date. The tech sector is once again asking Congress to raise this arbitrary and outdated cap on highly-skilled individuals so that we can tap the talent we need to continue our country’s innovation and progress. If Congress acted to fix the dysfunction in our immigration system, they could help tech companies grow the economy, create jobs, and keep America competitive in the global marketplace.”
