About the Awards

Innovative Government ICT Acquisition Professional of the Year Award

Government acquisition professionals play a vital role in ensuring agencies acquire innovative technologies to meet mission needs. While the federal acquisition process is sometimes viewed as slow and laborious, many government officials are working within existing processes to create innovative, streamlined strategies for purchasing cutting edge, secure technology.

This award is offered in recognition of a federal acquisition professional (e.g., contracting officer, contracting officer’s representative, etc.) that displays innovation and creative thinking in the implementation of acquisition strategies for information and communications technology (ICT). The individual’s actions must have contributed to modernizing U.S. Government ICT in line with commercial best practices for technology, cybersecurity, and competition.

Innovative Government ICT Program of the Year Award

Now more than ever, large-scale ICT acquisitions depend on coordination between government acquisition, technical, security, and budgetary officials, as well as with industry partners. This award is offered in recognition of a government ICT program or group initiative resulting in the successful acquisition or implementation of an innovative and secure enterprise ICT solution. The group’s actions must have prioritized interdisciplinary and/or interagency coordination while contributing to modernizing U.S. Government ICT in line with commercial best practices for technology, cybersecurity, and competition

Award recipients will be selected by five independent advisors who are recognized acquisition experts in the public, private, and academic sectors:
