WASHINGTON – The IT Alliance for Public Sector (ITAPS), the public sector division of the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), is pleased to announce CGI Group Inc. as its newest participant.  CGI is a global information technology and business process services firm with more than 38 years of experience partnering with federal, state and local governments to improve citizen service and increase efficiency through successful transformation programs.

“As an industry thought leader with deep-seated experience in how government acquisition works and how it can be improved, ITAPS is pleased to welcome CGI as our latest participant,” said Trey Hodgkins, ITAPS senior vice president for the public sector.  “Their perspective will give ITAPS an even stronger knowledge-base to advocate for real-world solutions to improve the way government goes about contracting for the most innovative goods and services for their constituents.”

“Government IT projects will only grow more complex in the years ahead,” said Toni Townes-Whitley, CGI Senior Vice President and ITAPS Executive Council Member. “CGI has experienced firsthand what it takes to succeed in this challenging environment and can bring those insights to the table to help our industry achieve clarity of vision as well as fortify governance and accountability.”

With today’s announcement, the alliance of enterprises in ITAPS grows to 23 participants.  In April 2014, ITAPS announced its inaugural 14 participating companies.

ITI formed ITAPS in November 2013 to develop an alliance of leading technology companies building and integrating the latest innovative technologies for the public sector market. With a focus on the federal, state, and local levels of government—as well as on educational institutions—ITAPS advocates for improved procurement policies and practices, while identifying business development opportunities and sharing market intelligence with our industry participants.
