WASHINGTON – Today technology industry trade group ITI, the global voice of the tech sector, released the following statement from Vice President of Government Affairs Vince Jesaitis applauding the Senate passage of the MOBILE NOW Act (S.19) and called on Congress to see the legislation through to be signed into law:

“Senate movement on the MOBILE NOW Act is long overdue, and we applaud Chairman Thune for his persistence in pushing this important legislation ahead,” Jesaitis said. “We hope this common-sense bill continues to move through the legislative process and becomes law this Congress. It will be a win-win-win for consumers, wireless and technology companies, and the US economy by driving investment and innovation in the wireless ecosystem.”

ITI has been a vocal supporter of the MOBILE NOW Act noting the bill sets strong goals for making new spectrum available for mobile use, both licensed and unlicensed spectrum, and evaluates how all spectrum bands are used. In a blog earlier this year Jesaitis stressed the importance of such polices, saying “the only way we can realize the societal and economic benefits will be from creating smart infrastructure that is infused with technology and leverages the full range of benefits offered by the IoT.”
