WASHINGTON – Today, ITI, the global voice of the tech sector, joined with the Internet Association, Internet Infrastructure Coalition, Internet Society, Computer & Communication Industry Association, NetChoice, Mozilla, Packet Clearing House, ACT|The App Association, American Registry for Internet Numbers, Access Now, Andrew Sullivan, Dr. Ted Hardie, Jari Arkko, and Alissa Cooper, filed an amicus brief in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas opposing a request from the States of Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, and Nevada asking the court to grant a temporary restraining order to delay the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) transition.

“This effort by a small number of attorneys general is misguided and inconsistent with the founding values of the Internet,” said Dean Garfield, President and CEO of the Information Technology Industry Council. “The court should unequivocally oppose any motions designed to slow down the IANA transition. It is an ironic endeavor because the transition will actually keep the internet an open and flourishing engine of innovation and open global communication.”

The groups and individuals joined in the brief represent the innovators and architects of the internet, who rely on the healthy functioning of a global and open internet.
