WASHINGTON – Global tech trade association ITI announced it is seeking nominations for its 2022 Public Sector Government Recognition program for outstanding federal acquisition professionals. The awards highlight U.S. Government professionals who promote best practices in government IT acquisitions, including creative and innovative tactics to increase competition, reduce administrative burdens and procurement lead times, and leverage commercial best practices to support superior government cybersecurity and mission performance. Nominations will be accepted on ITI’s website until 11:59 pm ET on October 14, 2022.

“Federal contractors play a vital role in ensuring the U.S. Government has access to the innovative technology solutions necessary for mission performance. So do those who serve as federal contracting officers within agencies,” said Megan Petersen, ITI’s Vice President of Public Sector Policy and Counsel. “This recognition program celebrates and honors U.S. Government employees that promote the innovative acquisition solutions needed to modernize and secure IT infrastructure.”

Awardees will be selected by four independent advisors who are recognized acquisition experts in the public, private, and academic sectors:  

  • Soraya Correa, President and Chief Executive Officer, Soraya Correa & Associates, LLC; Senior Advisor, ACT-IAC; former Chief Procurement Officer and Senior Procurement Executive at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)

  • David Drabkin, Chairman of the Advisory Panel on Streamlining and Codifying Acquisition Regulations, Section 809 Panel; Principal at Drabkin & Associates, LLC; former Senior Procurement Executive at the General Services Administration (GSA)

  • Jim Williams, Partner at Shambach & Williams Consulting; Former Federal Acquisition Service Commissioner and Former Acting Administrator, GSA

  • Christopher R. Yukins, The Lynn David Research Professor in Government Procurement Law, The George Washington University Law School

Awardees will be announced in early November 2022.

ITI launched its Public Sector Government Recognition Program in 2021 and awarded the Outstanding ICT Acquisition Program of the Year to the Department of Homeland Security’s Procurement Innovation Lab (PIL)’s Artificial Intelligence for Past Performance Project(CPARS AI).
