WASHINGTON – The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), the global voice of the tech sector, released the following statement today from Vince Jesaitis, vice president for government affairs, on the conference agreement reached for H.R. 644, the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act of 2015:

“In addition to updating our customs processes and trade enforcement mechanisms to reflect the modern global economy, ITI is very pleased there was a permanent extension of moratorium on Internet access taxation. This isn’t the time to tap the brakes on the Internet economy with new taxes and uncertainty of how to do business online. We commend Sens. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), and Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) and the conferees for their work on this package. As lawmakers work through the process of moving these bills, we encourage them to send both measures to the President’s desk by the end of 2015.”
